Cell Phone Mounting Location for Best Reception
Cell Phone Mounting Location for Best Reception
I was surprised I couldn't find a thread for this topic anywhere....
I have a MT 06 coupe with premium package which has integrated bluetooth and I have noticed the quality of my phone reception along with the not so perfect bluetooth quality leaves the person on the other end of the line asking me to repeat things a lot. I have full bars just about everywhere I live and drive so this really only happens if I don't hold my phone (curve 8310) in a location that gets good reception. I have been putting it in two spots....
First spot is the cup holder with the sunroof slider open and it seems to work okay b/c I am guessing the reception finds a way through the sunroof without much interference. The 2nd spot which gives me the best reception quality but is probably the most dangerous and inconvenient is in my left hand (which is also at the top of my steering wheel) while I shift with my right hand. Both spots still require me to pick up the phone while driving to see who is calling so something that mounts the phone would most likely solve both problems.
Has anyone tried using a mount for their cell and found that reception is better? My guess is that it is but I am curious to know where people have mounted their phones and what they used. I am not a fan of mounts hanging on the windshield or dash b/c I don't think it looks good so if I went that route I would like something smaller and not that "loud". I would also want something thats pretty secure if I want to downshift and go WOT without fear of being smacked in the face by my phone
.
When I ran a few searches I came across this site which sells a piece that is specific to the G and then you have to buy a mount for your specific phone. It gets a little pricey with both parts for what it is and also I am not sure if reception would be the best mounted right next to the head unit and a/c vent b/c I don't think it has a direct line through the windshield but I am not sure.

Any feedback and experiences would be appreciated.
