need help car wont start after sub installed
Hi guys i been stressing out like crazy trying to figure this out. ok i just bought this HIGH and LOw converter SCOSCHE SLC4
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v600/got_ph0/?action=view¤t=p142SLC4-F.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/got_ph0/p142SLC4-F.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
i connected this to the factory amp and the rca connect to my KENWOOD AMP and SUB, i removed my stock sub, everything works fine until like 10 mins or so the amp will turn off on me also my car will start but shuts off right away, i have to give it gas in order for it to start and idle right. whats going on? is it a bad amp?

Where are you grabbing your power from?
1) 12 volts directly off the battery?
2) Where did you ground your amplifier?
3) Are you sure there isn't a short in the amplifier somewhere between the battery and the amp -- that may manifest the symptoms your car is having
4) The fact that you need to gas it to keep the car running suggests that you're drawing TOO high a load and suggest a short circuit (power cable is touching something metalic on the car's chassis) and is not frying a fuse, but just draining the electrical system so bad that the engine can't even spark...
5) There is of course always the possibility there is something internally wrong with your amplifier (kenwood) but i would check your wiring first and rule that out as a possible short
Lemme know, happy to help

1) the 12 volts is connected to the batter
2) i ground my amp next to the spare tire but i make sure i sand it and to the metal then ground it

3) Have you checked the integrity of the power line running from the battery -- like no shorts (i.e. no places where the wire is pinched and connecting wire to metal BEFORE the amp)??
4) What gauge wire are you running from the battery?
5) Could you try another ground site?
6) Are you sure the amplifier and the subwoofer (the kenwood and the subwoofer) are connected properly?

ok guys, first of all thanks alot for your help guys. i got the sub up and running today everything works great but my car still wont run unless i give it some gas i thought it was my alternator so i disconnected my battery and reved up the engine. then i thought it could be the battery so i went to recharged it. still the car will start but it will shut off right away UNLESS i give it some gas then its drivable. what could be the problem?

Did you remove the amp power wire from the battery or from the amp.
you never answered the question above (after asking it twice):
****>>>> did you check the entire amp power line from battery to amplifier (kenwood)?? ***<<<<<
Otherwise, you may have a bad alternator -- funny that it would crap out right after your added the sub -- maybe it drew just enough extra power to kill the alternator
