avn2454 question

Hi guys, I recently got an avn2454 installed in mountain view, CA. The guys seemed nice, however the rest of my experience was not great at all. First off, they took way longer than expected (almost an entire day and I had to go pick up the car after they closed because I was at a wedding). Next, when I went to get my car, they left the battery cover on top of the battery compartment. When the hood was closed, it looked like one side was popped but the other side was closed. Then after that I realized that they did not give back my original dash, radio and line converter. So finally I try out the navi. It seemed ok, but they actually messed up the wiring and wired the front speakers to the rears, so the voice guidance was actually coming out of my subs, I had to go switch around the wires myself to get it to work properly...wtf. The only reason why I let these guys touch my car is because of that eclipse 3 year warranty... To make matters worse, the guys put 3 miles on my G claiming that it was to test the navi. I wanted to ask anyone out there that has an 2454 what exactly came in the box? I see two infrared spots on the side of the screen. Did they lose my remote? Anyways gonna go in today and take back my dash and radio and ask them wtf they were thinking. I'm not gonna say the name of the store, but there are only a few eclipse retailers in that area, you can PM me if you really wanna know.

Re: avn2454 question

dont worry... a couple of "good guys" broke alot of $hit in my car, took 2 days, i had to take my car back to them like 5 times, made me solder and put the little button on myself... if they break ANYTHING, they HAVE TO pay for it with genuine infiniti parts... MAKE THEM! and dont do anything yourself, document everything and have them fix it themselves, thats what you paid for!

remote control does not come with the AVN, although my installer had one laying around and hooked me up with it for free... i actually know the installer from previous installs and he broke alot of stuff, but its all fixed now... i went thru alot of $hit to get it the way i want it, like brand new... they have insurance for these types of things, so money doesnt come out of their pocket.

the 3 miles thing, he went for a joy-ride!!! trust me! he only needed to go like 1/4 mile to calibrate it, if that!...

and yes, demand for your stock equipment back! they needed to give it back in the first place without you asking, its your property, not theirs.

Re: avn2454 question

I had another question about the AVN actually. I dont think they gave me the installation instructions, and I dont feel like opening the dash, but is there an aux video in on this unit? I'm thinking in the future I might hook up an Innovatek DVD player so I can simultaneoulsy use navi and play a DVD. Also will a din sized unit fit into the empty navi cubby?

yes there is... i play pac-man thru mine! its thru the VTR mode... next to the DVD touch screen button when you hit SOURCE button on upper-left of the HU...

yes a din sized unit will fit, people have done it, but its a PITA... i would recommend against doing it.

Re: avn2454 question

the innovatek MIGHT fit in there, its not that deep and you may be able to mount it slightly angled. The wiring makes it deep though. The antenna coax plug and the A/V plugs require at least an inch of clearance in the back
