Metra Double Din Kits

Hey guys,
So I'm going to change my stock HU with an aftermarket one and I'm struggling on what double din I should get. The JDM one is way to pricey in my opinion. There is metra one for about $160 on ebay. link--> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...#ht_3091wt_828
Does anyone have a metra kit? If so, is anyone satisfied with it? Pros and cons of it.

unless your car is an 03-04, you wont be installing your head soon. no one has any 05-07 dashes right now. the metra looks like **** and from the pictures ive seen it doesnt resemble the factory trim. tony on riverside has them on backorder and mynismo.com is telling me at least 60-90 days and grubs had it listed out of stock. i did manage to find a dual control ac unit though. i just got a pioneer avic-f700bt off of someone on my350z but i looks like i wont be able to install it until around december.

sounds like your installer is to good to call metra customer support

on the back of the a/c controls there are 4 screws

remove the screws

There will be a plastic jumper that needs to be removed

remove that and your ac will work

I have the metra kit and it looks ok to me

I guess some people like it and some just dont

Just installed my Eclipse double din w/ a metra kit last week. Honestly I don't think it's as bad as everyone says it is.

What year is your car? Where'd you get the kit and for how much? The aluminum part matches the factory finish with no gaps?

Mines is a 05 sedan. The gaps were fine. The finish is NOT the same. The metra is painted plastic. It's pretty close, but not the same. Got my kit from a local stereo shop here in L.A

I did remove the jumper. didnt work. i also put the jumper on the other options just to check... and that didnt work. the installer did call metra and he told them the symptoms of my issues with the ac unit ie flashing LED's, non-functioning buttons, a/c stuck at previous setting. all they had to say was "oh, thats weird." so they had the installer do a check the connections between all the pins, and they couldnt find anything wrong. So... i am stuck with an ac unit that doesnt work. BUT i just ordered my 05 JDM a/c unit from riverside today. hopefully that will fix the problem and I will never have to take apart my dash again
