2005 Model Changes: MP3 & larger NAV

There is a post on FA that says the 2005 model will get a 7" powered Nav screen vs. the current 6.5". It also claims that the new headunit will play MP3's and deletes the cassette (which was seen in the pics).

Look just to the right of the word "TUNE". Does that look like an "MP3" logo?

Frankly I don't know how you'll be find any songs on a MP3 disc with the crappy 6 character display the Bose system has. I hope the MP3 function is intergrated into the NAV screen.

Well, it's eight characters, but point taken! To integrate RDS or MP3 or Sat info into the Nav would require a major interface change. Certainly possible, but more likely something for a major model change vs. the 2005 small changes.

hmm, good eyes...
anyway, i've seen some aftermarket headunits that will display and play mp3's in this way:

"F3S23" which means Folder#3, Song#23 in alphabetical order

It was a pain in the ****!

I wonder if the 2005 head unit will be swapable into the 2004. A stock mp3 player would be so nice.

Re: 2005 Model Changes: MP3 & larger NAV

a stock solution for MP3 would be nice
however, the 2003-2004 radio assembly costs almost $2000.00
who knows how much the 2005 unit would cost if they integrated mp3? (probably more)
would you guys be willing to pay such a high cost for this?
