Can't control AC
Can't control AC
I am in the middle of working on an interior LED mod, something like https://g35driver.com/forums/lightin...-56k-haha.html except on a 2005. After I changed out the LEDs in the AC control board(The double din board) I reconnected everything and turn them on. I left too much solder on one of the connections and it short circuited.
After that the AC AMP/Display/Clock stopped responding to any inputs from the AC controls(it also defaulted itself to preset temp, and auto everything else). I tried switching out the AC control board with the old one from the radio and it still doesn't work. (does the radio also have to be plugged into that circuit board for it to work?) I then bought another AC AMP/Display/Clock thinking it was that but after i reconnected everything(using the old circuit board from the radio since i knew it works and i didnt mess with it) And the same thing happens....AC turned on, temp set to 75, and Auto fan, i just can't change anything. I looked in the repair manual and i followed all the diagnostic steps except for testing with oscilloscope because i don't have access to one.
Im not sure what else could have fried? Could both of my boards be dead? Or both the AC AMP/Display/Clock? Any help will greatly be appreciated.
The control board does illuminate(except for the LEDs that show status of AC/FreshAir/Defogger) and the rear defogger can be turned on because when i click that button i hear the relaying clicking in the back.
What other electronics are connected to this that could be broken?
In the repair manual it says that if communication is lost between the control board and AC AMP/Display/Clock for more then 30 seconds then it will default itself to auto. That's what happening with mine but i replaced both the control board and AC AMP/Display/Clock.

I used search but nothing came up for a 2005.
Thanks
Paul

Okay so i connected the faceplate to the radio and everything worked. I went ahead and bought another double din ac controller to replace the current "broken" one. I connected it up and nothing. same problem. Does anyone know if there is anything different between the two boards(radio AC and DD AC)? Like does it need power from a third thing for it to work? Maybe i blew the fuse to that or something?
