Update 2 (Roof Deadening): https://g35driver.com/forums/5021457-post22.html

Update 3 (Door deadening): https://g35driver.com/forums/5102275-post30.html

Original thread started here... https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...n-install.html

However I didn't want to continue with that thread since I'm no longer using the Zapco equipment...at least for now. Had to sell the amps and components and kept the JL 15W6.

Currently, here is what will be going in:

JBL GTO 1201.1 amplifier powering two 15's (infinite baffle)
JBL Px600.2 amplifier powering Crystal Mobile Sound CSC 60's
Using factory head unit and Audiocontrol LC6i

I'm trying to find a 2nd JL 15W6. If I can't find another one in the condition I want or for the price I'm looking to spend I'll end up going with some custom made 15's, Image Dynamics IDQ15's or a pair of Exodus Audio DPL 15's.

Here's pics of the equipment.

I'm starting to run the wires. I figured I have plenty of wire so might as well put it to use. Rather than do a single run of power cable from batt to trunk and ground somewhere in trunk....or even do a full run of each like the occasional people do...I figured to do two full runs of each. One for each amp.

I'll also be replacing the Odyssey PC 1200 with a redtop group 35 and throwing the Odyssey in the trunk with a Yellowtop group 35. I was gonna use a Batcap 3000 up front and 2000 in the rear but I don't have that much money for batteries, even with my sponsorship pricing, so unfortunately I had to go with Optima cos I got sponsored by them as well....probably order those batteries in a couple weeks.

Here's some progress pics...

80 ft of 4 awg wire:

Gonna run the wire on the passenger side. Grommet slit open to get all the wire in:

Got one in and one out:

Tinned Copper Ring terminals:

A little techflex and heat shrink to make it look all purrdy:

All four wires in and out:

Will update as I get more done, taking a little lunch break.

That's one mean half of an octopus you got crawling around in there.

The Stimulation Mar 3, 2010 05:54 PM

Lol...yeah, I was surprised how easy it was to get through too. I probably could get another 2 runs in but honestly, running it through the side of the car would be difficult. Would probably have to gut everything and run along the center.

Update...finished everything up. It was quite simple running the rest of the wire and I had no troubles with it. Just snapping on some of the last pieces was a lil difficult, but then I realized I was doing somethin wrong...after that, it was a cinch.

Since I'm going to be swapping the battery I figured I'd leave some slack for the wires. All I could find was some latex gloves..then I found some electrical tape and wrapped it around (not pictured is the electrical tape).

Time to head to the trunk and find that opening

http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/u...o/IMG_5740.jpg

Fed one through. Then zip-tying them and pulling through made it much easier.

Putting everything back together and taping off the opposite end of the wires with electrical tape.

Looks good, Levon! Your interior needs a detail LOL

Let me know how those front components sound!

BTW, Levon, whose 5 series is that?

The Stimulation Mar 3, 2010 06:01 PM

Lol, crap. I was hoping nobody would notice the dirty interior lol.

I'll be getting some deadener around next week and maybe start installing it the same weekend if I have a chance. From there everything should be smooth sailing, I hope.

Wannabe6MT Mar 3, 2010 06:03 PM

I am an interior nerd, and i have the same color interior as you, and i know how mine looks clean, and how other stone interiors should look LOL if i lived in Cali, id come over and give her a cleaning ;)

Ahhh.... I remember doing all those couple of years ago... took me 3 days (slacking around too much) to put the damn subs in... and thought it was too much so I took them off in a week again. hahahaha

Looks good Levon. Keep up the good work brotha.

The Stimulation Mar 3, 2010 06:15 PM

Got some tips on what to use, how to do it?

Wannabe6MT Mar 4, 2010 12:34 AM

Zaino for the leather (two step process)

Get the carpets steam cleaned (little Green Machine)

Then just wipe it down with some meguires quick interior detail.

GreenGoblin Mar 4, 2010 12:39 AM

Damn that is nuts, lots of juice going to the trunk.

Hotdawwgman Mar 4, 2010 12:59 AM

looks good buddy! Cant wait to hear it when you are done!

Which Zaino do I get? Is there certain ones? I think 9 and 10 or 10 and 11 IIRC.

Thanks Mark... Yeah Danny, but I won't even be using it all....probably only 400-500w. I think down the line I'm gonna do 2 18's, but I measured and if I can do 2 18's, then I can fit 3 15's....more cone area with that so it'll be more intense.

Holy crap, you're finally doing it. Thought it'd start in 2012 at the earliest ;)

Your pics are bringing back bad memories of when I was in Bang's garage doing my sound deadening. Smart thinking doing the install now as opposed to July.

Infinite baffle, you say?? You going back to your old foam expander ways with this one? When are you doing the baffle part? I'm curious how you're going to do it as I'm swaying that way in the near future.

The Stimulation Mar 4, 2010 10:25 AM

To be honest, I don't know how I'm going to do it...I'm gonna go to James and have him help me out lol. He's the IB king haha.

djfarhan Mar 4, 2010 10:47 AM
