Won't accept tape adapter

I just picked up my g yesterday.., damn the car is sooo smooth. anyways, im trying to listen to my ipod mp3 player over the speakers, and i have a tape adapter, but when i stick it in, it checks side 1, then side 2, then says "Tape Err" and ejects it. i'm a huge mp3 listener.., anyone got any ideas how i can make this work?

Re: Won't accept tape adapter

not sure about the tape but.....check out the Kenwood Music Keg.....they have 10GB and 20GB models.....they mount in the trunk like cd-changers with ejectable catridge so you can attach to your PC to download songs...really neat

dkni, what did you end up doing? I had a Scosche PCA1 that worked fine, but it was old and I'd repaired the connector once but it's pretty worn out now. I bought a Maxell or something or other and it does the same thing yours did. I've searched for another Scosche in stores but I don't see it and I don't wanna buy another one that won't work. I guess I'll check ebay for another Scosche PCA1.

Make sure the MP3 is playing before you put the adapter in. I've had this problem since my cd player took a face dive into a concrete wall. If the tape deck doesn't get a signal at first, it will eject it.

Dang, no kiddin? I might just go to the store and buy another one and try that. If you get it to play and then cut the signal by stopping the player, will it kick the adapter out then?

If you can't get the tape to work just buy one of the SUN PAC adapters for the back of the stereo so you can listen to your mp3s from the headphone jack of your mp3 player.

Install:
http://www.myg35mods.com/tutorials/ipod/index.html (this install has both the ipod connector and regular headphone connector. You can get it without the ipod adaptor for like 50 bucks less)

Specs:

I use a tape adapter with my ipod too. It never ejects the tape adapter unless you hit the eject button, signal or not. Sounds like either your headunit is messed up, or the tape adapter itself.

I had this problem in my old monte carlo. Tape deck would only work with real tapes, i ended up getting an aux input.

Well I got that Scosche kind that I had before. It plays. Sometimes, the player will kick it out, though, but I just put it back in and kinda push it around in there and something clicks and it starts playing like normally. I wonder if the one I bought months ago and took back would have worked if I had just wiggled it around in the player or something.
