Calibre EX2 DIY install

Ordered over a week ago and finally have it directly from Calibre. This is a standalone system made up a standalone wire kit and 2 diffusers. Will have more pics in a few hours of a full install integrated in the car and I might integrate the wires inside the main engine harness and dash harness but that depends.

This took about 1 hour working with a friend Kenny at KD Auto. Will have a test run this weekend.

If anyone has one we can install it at a shop for $100. Most Calibre dealers charge over $200-$300

This is not finished. It will also have an off on switch later. The grill area was the best option for this setup. Even though the driver side is obstructed it can be cleared later if the test fails.

We also tried different places to put them so in some of the pics one defuser is upside down.

Start up vid.

Also if I had to rate the product on quality so far I would give it a 10 out 10 for the quality of the parts/wires/brackets.

I order a 2 channel on off remote for this. I didn't want to drill anything into the dash or have any extra switch. Will install it soon.

I installed the remote but it is not ON when I turn on the car and I have to turn it on so it's inconvenient to have to turn it on every time I drive. So I need a new system that turns on when the car does. Maybe this will work.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350261184053&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXF%3F&GUID=ac9950891260a0aad200b350ff63948c&itemid=350261184053&ff4=263602_263622
I also had it go off today when I got hit with laser twice. So it works as far as I know. I still need to see it working to be sure.

This video shows how it picks up laser. Since the laser is on a fixed pole it's accurate across big distances unlike a laser gun in the hands of a cop. It's also aimed low to hit head lights and front license plates. Since it's on a fixed pole and aimed low the Passport does not pick it up until it's in line with the laser at the end of the video.
It might also have a smaller laser signature since it's fixed. A laser hand gun used by cops probably has a larger laser signature to make it easier to hit cars across large distances since it's not fixed and steady on a pole to be accurate.
