Audio people: Will this work?
Audio people: Will this work?
I am looking to do a mild upgrade on my 03 Bose coupe. I currently have Infinity Kappa speakers in my doors and I plan to upgrade the rear deck with another pair of Infinity Kappa 6x9 speakers.
I originally purchased the Kappas to replace my front door speakers speakers because they are 2ohm and would work with the factory amp.
Can I use this amp in my setup? I am confused about the ohms. Here are some specs on the amp
Soundstream STL4.320 4 Channel 640 Watt Amplifier
* 4-Channel Class A/B
* Power output:
o 50 Watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms
o 80 Watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms
o 160 Watts RMS x 2 Bridged @ 4 ohms
* Total Harmonic Distortion (4 Ohm power) - 0.03%
* Frequency Response - 15-25kHz
* Signal-to-Noise Ratio (4 Ohm power) - 96dB
* Damping Factor (100Hz, 4 Ohm) - >200
* Signal Voltage - 200mV-5V
* Potential Current Draw - 60A
* Dimensions: (2.125"h x 6.5"w) - 9.625" Size A
* Channels 1&2 HPF (12dB/octave) - 50-4KHz
* Channels 1&2 LPF (12dB/octave) - 50-4KHz
* Channels 3&4 HPF (12dB/octave) - 15-500Hz
* Channels 3&4 LPF (12dB/octave) - 50-800Hz, or 250-4KHz
Will this amp work with my Infinity Kappa speakers?
Speaker specs:
* 6 x 9" , 2-Way Speakers (pair)
* Power range: 2-110 watts RMS (330 watts peak power)
* Plus One woven-glass-fiber woofer cone with hi-roll rubber surround
* Front accesible tweeter-level adjustment
* Low-distorsion, low-Q woofer motor
* Edge-driven MMD dome tweeter with UniPivot
* Direct connect crossover dongle
* Computer-optimized outboard crossover with tweeter level control
* 2-ohm impedance for extra power (compatible with all factory or aftermarket car stereos)
*
* Sensitivity: 96dB
* Frequency Response: 35Hz-25kHz
* Top Mount Depth: 3-1/4"

This info is incorrect. 80 Watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms. It's 80 x 4 @ 2 ohms. http://www.soundstream.com/AudioProd...rs/stealth.htm
You'll probably need a LOC to make this work. You need differential balanced inputs on the amp if you're coming from the Bose, and it doesn't look like this amp has it.
