Enough room?

I was thinking of installing my Lilliput screen in the dash where the Hazard switch and the ash tray is. Do you guys think there is enough room behind it if I did this? I would cut the hole and put the TV behind it and I would make a metal piece as a frame.

Here are some pics...

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: Enough room?

I assume you're talking about the 7" lilliput?

were you going to take it out of the casing? if not, I really really doubt it'll fit.

If you do,even then i doubt it, but it might fit. I got a xenarc that's not in any housing right now, and my car is taken apart at the moment, so I'll check within the next couple of hours.

I know it's not what you asked, but before you do this, be sure you're willing to look at a screen that's so low.

Re: Enough room?

Yeah it's actually a good spot. I can take it out of the casing. Withwise it will fit with the casing, so I would only remove the back plate or the whole case if I had to.

And yes it's 7"

Re: Enough room?

oh the depth is what you're afraid won't fit?

If so, since I don't have the unit, I can't help, sorry. I'm sure you can cut the hell out of a lot of that stuff back there if needed.

Re: Enough room?

Okay I have two pictures. The one above and the one below. The TV would be in the black electric tape. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I would have to do alot of cuttting. If I mess up how much do you think that piece would cost? The TV would rest in between the black electric tape.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: Enough room?

i think its going too look very bulky in there... if you could step down to a 5" tv, you would prob be ok. Then there will be room left and right of the tv and you can still see the bezel

Re: Enough room?

If I stepped it down there would be holes where the ash tray and hazard switch would be.

Re: Enough room?

would the shifter be in the way for people to see the screen and access it? if it fits thats the only thing that may cause a problem...
