Passenger's side cigarette socket - Power issue

The passenger's side cigarette socket stopped working. I figured it was simply a fuse that had blown. The fuse checked out OK with a multimeter so I disassembled the passenger side cigarette socket mount and tested the voltage from the wires feeding the socket. Everything checked out okay. I disconnected the socket from the power plug and ran a continuity test on the socket and it failed! I removed a very small screw on the back of the socket and disassembled the socket and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I'll probably just go out and purchase a replacement tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone have had the same problem?

I'm having a similar problem. I have the JDM DD with Kenwood headunit. Not sure if this stuff was happening before I swapped it out from stock or not. My problem is it seems to keep shorting out my phone charger. I have one of those Rocket whatever ones and I just bought it from Best Buy 1-2 weeks ago. This is the 3rd or 4th charger now. But then I plugged in my son's Nintendo DSi charger and it lit up and worked fine. So bad socket? Bad charger? I wonder if the charger would short in the center console outlet. I'm just sick of wasting $20 each time on new phone chargers to find out.
