You will need:
A 12v DPDT relay, a male RCA plug with about 6" of wire on it, a female RCA plug with 6" of wire on it, about 12" of 18-20 awg wire.

Connect the female RCA plug to the common side of the 12v DPDT relay. This will serve as the audio out to your amplifier.

Connect the male RCA plug to the normally closed (NC) poles of the relay. This will be plugged into the left-front audio out of your headunit.

Connect wires to the normally open (NO) poles of the relay, these wires will be connected to the voice guidance audio signal. Check the FSM for exact wires to use.

Connect the positive and ground wires for the relay to the voice guidance trigger wire from the nav system. Check the FSM for exact wires to use. *You can optionally connect the positive lead of this to the "MUTE" wire on your new headunit.

With this setup, when the nav sends the +12v signal that it's talking, it will switch the front left speaker to the nav voice, once it's done talking, it'll switch back to the audio. *If you connected the +12v signal to the mute wire, the audio will simultaneously mute on all other speakers, otherwise it'll play at the same volume as it was.
The nav voice will be unaffected by the volume of your stereo.

 

Thank you for the info. Now for my dash kit (part #7w000) if i need to trim it if it doesn't fit because of the navigation system. Would you know how and what i would need.

So i just got my DD kit in and i need to trim it about 1/2 a centimeter. Does anyone know a good solution. Whats te best way to trim something like this.

 

I just went through this myself.

Here's the overlap:


I first tried using a serrated knife, then a razor blade, some tin snips, and finally I dug out my Dremel to remove the plastic from the top.



Mostly due to my efforts before getting the dremel going, the edge wasn't clean at all. If I'd used the dremel from the start, it would have turned out much better than this:



My excuse is that I'm kinda between moves, so I didn't have all my tools available at the start.

But anyway, if you use the dremel to remove the plastic above the thick line, and then use a heat gun to soften the glue, it'll come off cleaner than mine did. I folded the aluminum over with my hands:



And used a soft hammer to smooth it:


I cut the excess aluminum off and worked it a bit more with the hammer afterward, and it looks ok, but I think I'll end up buying the real part for DD JDM Nav, because I'm a bit **** about how it looks.

 

Thanks let me know where you get the jdm piece i got a qoute for 600. So im not sure if i want it.

 

Try contacting Tony@Riverside to order the DD Nav trim (part number's stickied in my shopping list), it shouldn't be much more than the non-nav trim.

 

I got my part the non-navi part from him but he told me he never sold those before. And to be fair the 600 was from j's garage but that was with the ac controlls.

 

Do you have the pin out for the trigger and the audio that plugs into the navi?

In other words...What does each wire do?
