Best built in HD radio head unit?

I'm considering a HU with a built in HD radio. I also want quality sound from CDs as well. Any suggestions for a single din that's under $300?

Wow, you go from "Best built-in HD radio head unit"
To something under $300.

Make up your mind.

The "Best" with a built-in HD radio is the JVC KW-NT3HDT, but since you can get a Pioneer X920BT or Z110BT and the HD radio add-on and have a much better unit, I won't consider it.

As for best unit with HD built-in for under $300 that's single din, I'd have to learn towards the Pioneer DEH P7200.

Crutchfield has 50% off the Metra kit with $169 car stereo purchase
I don't know if you pay more than $95 more for a stereo, NAV and or CD/DVD player here or not but you will save that much on the kit you need and get all the "free" install stuff. The cheapest I have seen the black kit itself anywhere is $169 OTD.

Thanks, just trying to decide if I really want HD radio or not. I definitely wouldn't pay for an extra add on for HD radio. I still like Alpine (cda 117) and wonder if it really makes a difference in quality sound using a 24bit burr brown DAC and 4volt preouts vs the other CD receivers without it all things being equal (i.e. sub and amp).

Higher voltage preouts does help the signal going to the amp stay clean, but you'd need really high-end amp and speakers to hear the difference.

And I certainly wouldn't recommend a Metra kit for an '06... they just don't match.
