A previous poster said that it also works if the seller is Pioneer. Apparently not for the particular one I wanted.
that blows man. in general, the code will work if amazon is the seller, but some models may be excluded from the promotion. again, my guess is they are trying to clear out inventory. i haven't found a list of specific items included in the promo so the only way to know for sure is to throw the item in your shopping cart then go to the promo code entry page.

good to know. what would help is if people who've shopped around using the discount code can post up on models that they know are included in the discount.
for instance, i know the 4200DVD was & is still included, and it sounds like the AVIC x920bt is as well. i haven't tried it out this time, but i know the 3200BT was included the last time they ran the promo

Good choice in picking out the 4200, bigc.
I have it and I love it... I just wish mine was as cheap as Amazon is advertising now. Oh well, water under the bridge now.

im sure youll be able to find one for under $600 a few new product lines down the road. but its a hell of a steal for right now.

This is a pretty good deal since they may also be running other promos along with the 30% off discount. When i upgraded my head unit a few months back (car break-in
), I picked up an AVH-4200DVD, pioneer ipod cable, and metra antenna adapter for $340 shipped.
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out. This is a good time to act if you're on the fence on upgrading your HU.

^ when i bought mine they were also running an additional 10-15% off if you bought 2 or more Pioneer items at once (secret promo i didn't know about until checkout). i did a double take when i first saw it, then immediately clicked CHECK OUT NOW!!!! 
btw, i still think 346 is a good deal for a new HU with warranty that will be honored by Pioneer. btw, if you're 5AT, you'll need a short-shifter so the flip out screen doesn't hit the shift **** when its in park (wrathernaut has mentioned this a few times on here).
