Ive had my beltronics 995 radar detector mounted directly under my rear view mirror with a home made "invisicord" for about 6 months now. It works great but I Its hard to look into the mirror at night because of the blinding red lights. I also don't like the look from the outside. I started to take it apart today and this is what I found. The main radar detector looks like its attached to the main board and I know that it does not need vision of the road. But, I think the laser part is on the top? can any one confirm? its a small lens on the back right. if that's what that is, i think im going to to run wires for the buttons and screen down to the dash and leave the main board up in the headliner for detection. In that case I will say screw it on the laser because once you get hit with it (unless you have jammers) your done anyway.
