And don't worry about noobs bumping this thread... IMO, it should be sticky'd.
geez i thought Bose is a very good HU but i was wrong. Mine is acting up again and banging on the left panel didn't help either . Time to dissect the HU.

The only thing Bose is good at is marketing. Even then... I swear it's the same ad they've been running the last 20 years, don't know how they can claim to have "better sound through research" when research implies that you'll come out with new stuff every now and again.

Man it costs a lot and a long process to go with DD. Why can't they design it more simple like Honda or Toyota so we dont have to remove everything in order to get to the HU..I'm leaning toward to DD but too much money atm

I just installed a 04 bose system in my 03 coupe. Its skipping on brand new cds. So if i remove my head unit and trim the cable it will stop the skipping correct?

^^^ It may help for a while. But unfortunately its no permanent fix.

Im back to banging the side again, at least until the junk killed another battery.
Long story short, all bose fixes are temporary and the bose isn't worth the headache.

Here's my post from another thread, explains a bit more:
"I have replaced my bose once, fixed it twice, and have pulled it out more times than I care to count. Thanks to it, I have also gone through 5 car batteries due to the parasitic draw problem also associated with it. My wife finally felt so sorry for me that she got me to order the pioneer app radio for my bday. You can replace the blose to aftermarket with descent HU and a metra kit. Crutchfield throws in the metra for $100 if the HU is $130 or more. If you use a referal code (pshkw-7ds9v-dqq84) you get another $20 off. Thats $210 shipped w/ harness'/adapters/instructions and no more bose headaches again! If you want steering wheel control you'll also need the Axxess ASWC ($70 at crutchfield or about $45 on amazon). $210-$255 is much easier and even cheaper than dealing with this constant bose headache."

I was wondering if this fix will work for all sound quitting and coming back? I'm saving up for a full sound system swap.

Probably not, you've probably got either a cooked board, or bad amp. This thread here might help, but if you're doing a full sound system swap - headunit and amp at least - you'll eliminate anything that would cause intermittent sound failure.
