failure rate on oem radio/ac controls on 06 sedan?

what is the failure rate of the oem radio/ac controls?

i read various stories on this happening eventually, but i haven't seen any 2006 sedans having this issue.

i have a 06 sedan with bose and nav. what causes this problem? am i at a high risk?

i just spent some money on a ipod adapter, and will likelly replace all speakers and amps.

i'm planning to keep the stock headunit, as i do not want to call attention in nyc. got robbed way too many times with a DD unit.

I had problems on my coupe ( the one i had before ) ... I dont think u should have any issues for my the a/c controls were getting jammed and could not control temp. or mode or turn off ... It would keep blasting cold or hot air depending on what it was on before.

'06 are just as prone to failure as every other year.

My wife's '06 had already been replaced at least once when we purchased the vehicle in winter of 2009.

My '05 was having read errors on CDs.

Replaced entire radio/ac unit twice on my 04 sedan. Both by 90K miles. If you have to replace it, my suggestion is to upgrade, our sound system is not so good.

i know our systems are garbage compared to other cars. i used to have a bose system on my maxima, for which i ended up changing the whole system in and out. that car has been broken into way too many times here in ny. cannot show anything nice in here, people will always try to steal it.

and thus i decided to stick it with the oem. i might add some components and a little single sub + all aftermarket amps in the future. But as far as the headunit goes, i'll keep it stock no matter what this time around.

What about a removable faceplate? JVC makes one. You could also do single din where there are plenty of detachable faceplate models.
