A small proposal regarding Stereo Upgrade
It seems that a lot of G owners want to ditch the stereo, either the Bose and Nissan varieties. Could we set up a new forum subhead regarding this. I have been to several car audio shops in Houston and while they all have ideas, no one really knows what's going on. One place wanted my car for 3 days so they could "do it right." I think this is a good idea, but with the international cast on this forum, it would seem to me that as we do the audio upgrades we could let others know about what we used, how much it cost and the problems the installer ran into. Just my 0.02, but rather than searching the threads for "stereo," "Bose," or "audio," all the "research" would be in one place.
A great example of posting is "nextmill's" post on 11/01 with pics. I have printed that so I don't loose it and have to go searching for it later, when I do my upgrade.
Anyway, what do you guys think?

i like the idea. but, i don't know if enough people are interested in doing this to warrant a brand new forum for it. in any case, maybe some of our visitors from japan can chime in on the factory options? the optional parts catalog for the skyline clearly shows an option for aftermarket decks. the pioneer carrozeria decks are available as options as well. see the rides section for aromasa's car.

I believe an audio section is a very good idea as I have been trying to look on how to upgrade my stereo in my coupe. I am VERY dissatisfied with the BOSE system... I previously drove a ML320 and the bose unit in that puts mine to shame....ideas... suggestions.. are certianly welcomed

I also live in Houston and would like to ditch the built in integrated headunit. Any information you find out or a recommendation on a place would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I got them!!!! I got them!!!! After getting no where with Infiniti Cust Service, Bose, and Clarion (actual makers of stereo), I asked my sales rep and he got them for me from the service manual for the car!!!
I scanned them into Adobe Acrobat for everyone!!!
