Putting a Bose HU in a non-Bose model???

My friend just bought him a 03 sedan without Bose. His radio doesn't work and I was going to give him my Bose headunit out of my 04 coupe. He would need my Bose amp as well, right? How much of a wiring head ache would this be?

Pretty huge wiring headache.

You'd have to run new audio signal and audio power wires to the trunk and from the trunk to the door frames to splice into the old wires.

You'd have to run amp power wires and grounds to the trunk.

You'd still have a POS factory radio that would die just as easily as the non-bose one, with the additional failure point of the Bose amp, which is also known to fail, although not nearly as often as the headunit.

So basically all the wiring headache of putting a new headunit amp and speakers in, with none of the benefits, since the system would still suck.

He's lucky he doesnt have bose. Tell him to buy a new headunit/dd kit and new speakers if he wants. That should seal the deal, if he wants to expand his system after that, well, thats up to him. Bose is garbage, it has decent bass compared to other factory stereos but its not worth the hassle

Well funny thing is the car already has a dd kit. He is almost 60 and he buys and sells car. He was planning on just flipping the car but has come to really like it and wants to keep it a while. He would prefer the oem look and thats why this thread. Since he has a base I plan on just telling him to buy a dvd/navi unit and be done with it.
