How do I add some life to my stock non-BOSE audio?

Hey guys, I have a 2005 sedan with a stock, non-BOSE stereo. The stock speakers are pretty bad. They sound muddy with no dynamics whatsoever. Say nothing about the lack of clear bass or definitive highs and mids. What's worse is I am a recording musician so everytime I turn on the stereo these shortcomings stand out. I am looking to the experts here for some advice. Is the only solution a rip/replace of the deck? Is there a way to hook up a sub/amp/eq to the stock system? Has anyone else done this? Thanks in advance guys.

^ This.

There's nothing worth keeping in the stock system, except maybe the wiring going through the molex connectors for the doors. Rewiring that sucks.

replace everything (speakers and deck or jus deck if ur speakers are still good) and itll be night and day. jus be thankful that u dont have bose cus it makes the job 100x easier and u can freely add an amp n sub if u want.
