Droid x set up
Droid x set up
I used to have the first gen droid. I had a universal vent mount for it with hardwired power and aux at the vent all the way to the left next to the wheel. It has always been a bit ugly to me and annoying to use with my left hand.. plus If I forget to plug it in its hard to do while im driving. A few days ago I got the new Droid x. Now when I saw that It has HDMI out and USB charging (both on the home dock) I got excited.. What I am thinking of doing is wiring the charger the same way I have it now (different placement) and wiring the HDMI to a converter box to the RCAs... To do this I would need the following
BTW 2007 SEDAN
to convert the HDMI to an analog audio signal.. I could use this to convert the video to the screen too but I would need a second converter box which takes component to composite (really expensive)
Micro HDMI to HDMI
I would use this along with half a usb cord and half of the power cord from the converter box to give it 5v for power instead of using a power inverter which is silly.
What do you think of this? Any other suggestions? Ideas on where to mount it? I was thinking in the cup holder but then I loose that whole thing..

Ah, I read to "I could use this to convert the video" and thought "nooooooooooo you can't!"
Seems like a lot of stuff for what a $1 3.5mm to RCA cable would do, even if it is another thing to plug in.

Come on! I hope you know by now that I know a pretty good amount when it comes to electronics! haha. And yeah Its a bit expensive but I have not done an electronics project in my car since my subs (a week ago) and im getting jumpy lol. Plus its worth the fact that it will look better without all the wires and easier to get it going. Plus the fact that when its in the dock I get a nice big interface
.. I just dont know where I will put the dock..
