Question on a NON Bose optioned coupe...
Hi there, I'm obviously a new member on here & wanted to seek a little bit of knowledge on a 2006 6 MT white coupe I have found. Its a one owner (70 yr old lady) , sport package, heated seats but does not have the Premium package. Has the plane Jane rear view mirror with no Bose sound system. The question I have is there an aftermarket audio company out there that has an upgraded OE sound system that would be a plug & play without any cutting? And the same for an Ipod adapter as well? For example there is one for BMW owners named BSW.com. Thanks!

hate to break it to ya, but anytime im buying a car and it has bose its the first thing to come out. Bose makes some of the worst sounding equipment I have ever used. /rant
there is no easy swappable unit for the G35. The bose unit is not PNP with the base setup, the harness are roughly the same but you need RCA harness, amps, and the bose speakers to go with it. Not worth it.

I'm not a huge Bose fan either but its better than the non Bose from the factory. The system sounds anemic with just the door speakers and whatever else it has. So if I end up buying the car I would have to spend extra cash on a decent SS. I used to be in the scene many years back in regards to hi end speakers, etc. But now I'm out of the loop. Any good setups that would be similar to a PnP or as close to it such as what Bavsound.com puts out ?

so just front speakers and an amp?
whats your budget overall including wires?
Are you doing this yourself? Labor is usually $70-$80/ hr
LOC = line out put converter, it allows you to tap into your speaker wires and converters the hi level signal(speaker wire) to low level (RCA) so that you can plug the RCAs coming out of the LOC into an amp....sounds a lot more complicated than it really is. LOCs are usually under $50

Anyway this whole "plug & play" ...
Buy any 6.5" speakers you want and MDF speaker spacers from zenclosures.com. Everything will work and be completely invisible from the outside.
Your speakers adapter ring screws onto the MDF speaker spacer as shown, and the speaker spacer screws into the factory holes in the door.

Amp? Yes The factory headunit doesn't push much, so upgrading the speakers without doing an amp is a bit of a waste.
You could probably get away with a small ~200w RMS amp under the passenger seat. The power is easy to get through the firewall by going through the same rubber gasket that the factory wiring goes through. Detour the speaker wiring through the passenger seat and back and you're done.
