New System, need help!
New System, need help!
hello all, ive been reading from this forum for months now and running search after search regarding the installation of new systems in the 05' g35 sedan. however, i cant seem to get a definitive answer to my exact situation so any help would be mucho appreciated!
in the past installing new systems in my car has been a breeze, however it seems that notion has gone out the window when i purchased my 05 g35 sedan with the Bose system (the killer).
as of now i have:
--pioneer DEH-4900ib
-metra single din dash kit
-kicker 6.5in 08ks6502 component speaker system
-kicker ks525 full range 5.25in speakers
-baffles
-kicker 10" cvx 2ohm woofer
-fusion 1000.1 mono amp
-alpine 4 channel vpower amp for speakers.
-rockford fosgate multi amp install kit.
-caraudiofactory.com custom 12" box.
so thats my setup that i could afford/ salvage from my last vehicle. my problem right now is if i have everything...
What harness' will i need for my head-unit? right now i have none, not even the one it came with. and what will i need to do in regards to my metra kit install? ive read extensively on the hvac control problem, however there is a harness extending from the metra's hvac controls and it says that it retains full control on the box. also, it has the dual button so i think i should be good? i hope.
are these the correct speaker sizes for my car?
i tried a test fit for the head-unit into the metra kit and the single din opening didn't fit my single din radio? whats up with that?, maybe sum dremel modification?
what other things should i know before dropping it off at the installer?
thanks in advance for the help!!!!

You'll have to hit up eBay or Pioneer for the harness that plugs in the radio. The other harness can be either a 70-7551 or 70-7550 harness (both will work), since you're using your own amp, so I'm assuming you're running your own RCAs to the rear.
You'll also need an antenna adapter.
You can use speaker spacers either of your own creation or from www.zenclosures.com to get the speakers to fit. They might have something that can make the 5.25's fit in the rear doors, otherwise you might have better luck with 6.5" all around, since the rear door speakers are also 6.5".
As for the radio fit, it's car audio, so dremel mods are always a possibility.

the 70-7551 and 70-7550 are for adapting an aftermarket unit to the stock bose system right? does it matter that im completely replacing the factory system, wires and all? and which one would work/sound best?
also in regards to the speaker spacers, do i only need them for the rear 5.25s? or for all 4 speakers?
thanks!

You need speaker spacers for both the front and rear, regardless of size.
im sorry but one last thing, why exactly do i need the spacers if my speakers are within the safe mounting depth? are zenclosures speaker spacers made to fit the stock infiniti speaker mount and then allow you to fit a different sized speaker in them? i dont mean to be difficult or anything its just that crutchfield is telling me one thing and im hearing other things from here. thanks!

You can turn the old speaker housings into spacers, but they'll be nowhere near as rigid as the MDF spacers.
I don't know how crutchfield measures the mounting depth, whether they expect you to turn the speaker housings into spacers or not, but it's not worth trying to save a few bucks to not use a quality spacer.
