You would most likely need the adapter to make US radio to work on a JDM radio. I remember reading about it on my350z.com when they were gettin aftermarket JDM radios installed.

Re: Interesting 05 picture

The radio would probably work, but Japan has a different freq range for radio stations so you may not be able to get certain radio stations that don't fit in their range. There are adapters that will adjust this range, but I believe there is a side effect. If your city has 90Hz to 100Hz, but Japan has 80Hz to 90Hz, then with the JDM radio and the adapter, 80Hz would be 90Hz, and 90Hz would be 100Hz. Not a big deal if you program the stations.

I use them. They are so much easier to wirte and rewrite than CD. Mine can burn six CDs on one MD.

Re: Interesting 05 picture

whatever you all think about md,
the upgraded lcd could be fantastic: proper CD-TEXT and ID3 support could be possible

Re: Interesting 05 picture

md never took off because sony didn't market it properly.
back in 95 or so, Sony's high end md walkman costed around $350. Here in the US it costed much more than that -above $5-600 if i remember correctly. US units were often a generation behind what was available in Japan.
In addition to that ,Sony didn't really advertise MD. MD blanks were expensive as well... and other companies (sharp, panasonic, aiwa) were not bringing their MD products over to the US in any significant numbers.
With all of that put together, by the time the MD format had any push in the US, MP3 players and CD-RW drives were popular.

My question is why Sony didn't market it more aggresively. They could have taken a significant bit of the market and probably been next to CDs on the shelves. There was nothing at the time that could have competed. CD-R was young and DAT didn't have the features. MD (and its atrac compression standard) could have basically beaten MP3 to become the popular digital file format. If that happened, Sony would have made a lot of money off of royalties on their own format. Plus, the digital copying problem that they have w/ CD-R might not have been nearly as bad...
