I agree. For much less you can build a carputer that has BETTER navigation function/MP3/DVD/Radar/Wireless Internet. It would also most likely be easier to install as well. This will be my next project.

I would trully appreciate any help and it would definitelly shorten the time of reaserch and sifting through the service manuals.

Thanks, Mario

Take some photo's along the way to see the process. Were did you purchase the unit from?

I haven't purchased any parts yet, first I need to do some heavy research (which I have a tendency to do whenever I start a project), however when I do source the parts and begin I will heavily document the entire process and take a very large amount of digital photos so as to make it easier for those who might follow and attempt the conversion themselves. Once again thou, this might take some time since I first need to source the parts and go through the service manuals, etc. Im guessing Ebay is my best bet, but ill be contacting some wrecked car yards (or whatever they are called) to look for some mangled up g35.

FWIW..
I have seen pics of this install (another old thread)
Veeeeerrrrrry painful experience.
He said he'd never do it again.

Entire dash has to come out of the car
The harness in question is for the whole dash

wow.. for $2150 I was able to get the kenwood ddx7015 + nav + double din setup + wiring harness + lunch and dinner.. of course I installed everything myself with the help of my buddies as well.. but I can watch dvd, play mp3s, play mp3s on dvds, fine tune my audio, and have other options as well.. you guys get the picture.. that was the main reason why i opted not to spend $2000 on something that just does nav.. altho the gas mileage features in it are kinda nice.. but to each their own

grats on your setup.. but for that amount i would go with aftermarket double din unit that has tons more features or a carputer

stock nav + dvd nav converter + slim ps2 + ipod = same price, and i can walk away with ipod and take ps2 out, i got my nav for 700, so if all i need is the harness itll be that 2150 you paid, and if my nav gets stolen insurance got my back

Sorry about that. Since I posted this thread i just never went back to look at it again. The main thing you need to worry about is to get the correct wiring harness. Make sure that your wiring harness is fromm the same year model of your own G35. If your G is an 03 I have an extra vin # u can use off of an 03 model. This is important cause the wiring changed from year to year. Once you get that all the rest is down hill.
