Bose stereo drains battery. >:( Rant.
OK, here's the deal; Ive had the G less than a year. A few months ago the battery started dying over night, I thought maybe the stock battery had just had enough. I replaced the battery with a Duralast gold, and the next day the F'ing battery was dead, again (of course). So I do a Google search just to see if I was the only poor bastard having these problems and sure enough its very common (as a lot of you already know).
After this I started trouble shooting to see where the problem is. I disconnected both harnesses on the factory amp, it still died. Pulled the stereo fuse out, its fine. Did tests with the multimeter and it is drawing 1.8 amps with the fuse in, and .008 with it out. Its definitely the stereo.
I call my local Infiniti dealer and they tell me since the cars out of warranty they cant replace it without charging me close to a grand. F that. Displeased with Infiniti I contact Infiniti-USA and provide links with hundreds of people with this problem, and state I also have this problem and would like them to rectify it. They tell me they cant help me because my G is a 2005 and only the 2003-04's have this problem, and that the 2005's were know to have amplifier issues.
So, I put the fuse back in, unplug the amp *again* and the car dies immediately (3 hours), jump start the car, pull the stereo fuse and it hasn't died since. WTF gives? So, now I am buying a stock faceplate from a fella on here crossing my fingers it fixes the problem.
My questions are:
Could anything else on this stereo circuit besides the faceplate cause a drain of this magnitude? I just did a read on the battery drain and it is pulling 4.2 amps with the fuse in. THATS CRAZY!
Has anyone else with a 2005+ had this problem?

I too am having the same problems with the battery draining. Not sure what I am going to do yet about it.

I saw a thread in Automotive.com and all kinds of owners with 03, 04, 05 even 06 have the Bose issue. The problem is a diode in the radio unit got fried and on/off is not working so it's aways on including the amp. The solutions are:
1) Take it to dealer (the stealers all knew about this issue) along with this printout to back you up. Ask the dealer to send the Bose unit for repair and it should cost $100 to $200 tops for the whole repair. They just simply replace the fried diode which cost only a few dollars. It would take 7-10 days for the unit to come back.
2) Go to Best Buy and get a new radio/cd installed along with a kit so the steering control would work. Cost $200 to $400 depending on the make. There is nothing wrong with any other parts in the audio system! So just get the radio/cd unit.
Solution 2) is the best way so you don't have to fight with the stealers and replaced unit may or may not fry in a few years.
I did a thorough search in this forum and there are a lot guesses and false solutions. This the best solutions I have found and explanation that came with it in automotives.com
Moderator: it would be helpful to many in this forum to make this a sticky.
