What lines to tap for subs?

I am putting in my JL 500/1 and my 2 eclipe 10's this thanksgiving weekend, but i have one question. Should i tap the 6.5s in the quarter pannel or the 6x9's, or the front compts? I have a JL remote bass ****, so thats how im goin to adjust my bass. But i recall an installer trying to explain to me about fadding foreward and back afecting the subs? please give me some advice, thanks a lot guys and have a great thanksgiving.

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

I use the JL bass **** too. Works great for attenuating the bass. From your post it sounds like you intend to splice the wires after the bose amp. You should just splice the rear wires out of the hu. Fading will effect the sub volume but that is why you bought that JL bass ****=). You have more flexibility with your gain settings when you use that ****.

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

no Justice, i no longer got the bose amp in there, a 300/4 JL is in its place. i intend to splice b4 the amp for sure. Shonuf are you sure i should take the 6.5's? wouldnt the 6x9's be better because those were originally for bass? or are both lines the same? thx for you help

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

Now I am confused. You currently have a 300/4 in there correct? So do you have the 6.5" and 6x9's on the rear channels together?

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

another thing to consider: I do not remember the resistance of the bose speakers (remami you out there?) but I thought I remembered they vary from front to back, which means you are not letting that JL 300/4 be all that it can be=). I tried searching around for the resistance values but had no luck.

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

no, the 6x9's are disconected, but thats not an isssue considering i can tap either set of lines for a signal. I do understand that there are different resistance rating for the bose speakers, and its only temp. untill i can afford some nice components and 6.5s for the quarters. But i got the 300/4 for 100 bones from some chick who didnt know anything, so why not put it to use u know? i know the bose paper woofers arnt all that, but it makes a big difference with a nice clean 4 chnl amp. So ima be doing this tomorrow night or thursday morn, as of now im going to tap my 6.5s in the rear, any objections? thx

Re: What lines to tap for subs?

Ah ok that sounds good. I believe the 300/4 has a low power output so that you can send a signal through your amp to the 500/1. Something similar to the following diagram.
