Supposedly they maintain electronic settings while the battery is disconnected. It has a battery attached to the plug that goes into the 12V socket. They're telling me that it sends voltage back into the system and this somehow powers the computer or whatever systems that keep settings in memory?

I don't believe the sockets in the G35 stay powered with the key off meaning you would need to leave the key in the accessory position for this to work.

I've used similar items in the past for quick battery disconnects and it they do work, assuming the cigarette lighter is always on.

^what he said^. If the socket is constantly on, this can work, with one caveat. You can check and see if the socket works by plugging something in and seeing if it works on DC power instead of battery or if you have the cig lighter, pop it in and see if it heats up. If not, it's switched power. If it is constant power you can make one yourself for merely $2-3 by running over to Radio Shack and buy a 9V pigtail and a DC plug. Solder the wires to the insides and voila, you have your own made up. Lock a 9V battery to it prior to disconnecting the battery.

Piece of $h!t in my previous experience. So eventually I ended up just removing the battery instead.
