Help!! Trying to do the safety bypass mod to nav

For all of you guys that have done this seemingly easy mod, I have a question.

I cut the green and white wire and attached a wire to each side of this. I cut both wires going into the trunk release. I then connected the free end of the trunk release wire to one of the new wires and then did the other. I then connected the wires coming from the trunk release plug to the new wires. Is that correct?

What happened when I tried it out was that it worked great, except that the trunk release would release every 2 seconds until I hit the switch to off. When I hit off, the menus came back on, so that part is working.

Please help! I dont know what I did wrong, and did this happen to anybody else.

Thanks
Eric

Not sure what you mean by that sentence.

Remove the 2 wires that go to the trunk lockout switch (not RELEASE) and connect them together. Don't connect them to anything else.

Splitting the green/white speed sensor wire, both go to the lockout switch, now not connected to anything else.

I put a new switch where the passenger 12v power connecter was, above that jankey little storage bin/hole. A round trim piece with a nice small flush rocker. Don't have to lean over to open the glovebox and I still have the lockout!

Thank you. I knew I was doing something wrong. Everything works good now. Im used to the trunk not opening at all, and with the trunk opening by itself every second or so, it was very surprising to say the least. Maybe bypassing the switch altogether will fix my problem where the trunk will not open inside or out, untill I turn the car back on. That is a good idea with the new switch. Now I need to put the dash back together. Definately a must do.
Thanks
