one good 10 is all you need. had one jl audio w6v4 in a few cars with a little amp on it and it made the car stereo sound nice even and clean when i wanted and would rattle the car when i wanted that.

no need for more than one sub

I had an original Soundstream before Power Acoustics bought them out and that amp was amazing. Only a 300w but it was crazy powerful and smooth. I haven't dealt with them since PA bought them expecting them to turn into crap, but I hear PA actually used Soundstream to re-design their own products and left Soundstream alone. Are they still as good as they used to be?

The jackhammer was/is a 22" sub...no

If you are looking to add a sub and don't want to over power your front stage, then roughly 500-1000 watts RMS is what you are looking for.

10" or 12" is up to you and how much space you want to give up

When people ask me for a quick easy budget system I recommend a 12" Type R in ~1.25 cubes ported with around 600-700rms.

If you want to give up as little space as possible go with a 10" in a small sealed. Just remember a small sealed will have less out put than a medium to large size ported box

less output and zero low end extension.

10's here-2x JL W6

Over-kill. I usually run about 20-30% on the bass **** I think. I don't like to rattle, I just like good clean sound/bass. However, if someone is riding with me I will show them what it is capable of.
