Best Way To Install Siri Sat Radio?
Hey,
So I have Sirius Satellite Radio at home on my stereo system in my room, and I want to get it in my car. I have the Radio Shack Orbiter unit from Radio Shack and I don't want to use that unit's Car Docking Station to get it in my car (too big!). I am looking for a receiver/unit for my car that can be hard-wired to my factory stereo system and has a nice small/sleek profile so it can be mounted in a discreet, yet easy-to-access location. My car is pre-wired for the OEM Satellite Radio kit, but I was looking for a much cheaper alternative to the $285 kit + cost of antenna and installation. Anybody have any ideas? Anybody already have the setup I am looking for? Suggestions, pictures, anything is most appreciated. Worst-case scenario, I'll just get the OEM Kit but if there is a cheaper alternative, I'm all ears.
Thanks,
MrElussive

I love the integration of the OEM unit but the display has much to be desired, plus I understand what you are saying about the price. Sirius this week at CES did announce a new smaller PNP receiver called the StarMate. If it is small enough you can be pretty inventive.

Audiovox has a very small receiver that sells for $30 but I am having a hard time finding it. The only site that sells it is Grubbs and they only have the FM modualated verison (there are two versions, FM modulation, and hard-wire, I want the hard-wire version obviously). I may end up going with the OEM unit if I can justify its price...
kenwood makes a sirius unit that has color display. I was thinking of finding one of those and trying to mount it in the nav cubby thing. This way i could flip it open to listen to sat, and then flip it shut when not in use.. don't know bout the dimensions but it looks like it would fit.
