Garmin 3790 Installed

Hey guys,
This is my first post on G35driver.com, however, I have been a fan for many years & have got some GREAT tips off this website!

I have a 2007 G35 Coupe with the Factory Bose stereo & Non-Nav.
I wanted to keep my mods as "factory" and hidden as possible. This is what I came up with...

PA15-INFI

I use an 80gb ipod Classic with this module.

Why did I choose this module?...
1) Works with factory Bose Stereo
2) Retains ALL of my steering wheel functions (as well as Bluetooth)
3) Displays song titles on Factory Bose Stereo
4) Has it's own "random" function

To install...you need to run the "CDL-NISx" cable (included with the module) from the bottom left corner of your trunk to the center console of the vehicle. You can run most of this cable thru the left side of your vehicle with all of the other factory stereo wiring.
*Important note...to get the best sound quality you MUST have a VERY SOLID ground to the system!*

Once installed, your ipod will simply play thru your XM satellite channel on the factory bose stereo.

*NOTES*
After reading many posts on this site, it is my understanding that ALL G35 Coupes (Canadian & American) from year 2006 & up are pre-wired for satellite radio. **If your vehicle is pre-wired for satellite radio you need the PA15-INFI module, for any coupe pre-2006 you need to buy the PA15-NIS module. I can't speak for the G35 Sedan's as I am not sure if this rule applies to them or not**
Many people think they are not pre-wired because they do not have a "SAT" button on their stereo, this makes no difference, it all depends on the YEAR of your vehicle.

I used a RAM Mount (see URL below) with the default Garmin Cradle & Power Cable that came with the unit.
With the GPS mounted in the cubby I get FULL satellite coverage as well as XM satellite traffic. (see attached images)

*NOTE* The cubby ALMOST closes completely with the GPS unit on the cradle (it's exactly 5mm from closing fully, but not noticable unless you looked closely)

I also ran the Garmin Power cable up from the center console to the cubby so the unit charges and runs as garmin intended. There is plenty of cable length to run all the way up and still have slack to keep it powered while opening & closing the cubby, so don't worry about that!

Oh and I almost forgot!!
The vehicle icon for my Nuvi3790 is a G35 Coupe. I got it from...http://vehiclesforgarminnuvi.com/

Hope this helps!
Dave

There's plenty of room *under* the center console for the module to save room, otherwise, looks good.
