Replace speakers without replacing amp?
Replace speakers without replacing amp?
I have an 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe -- can anyone tell me me if it would be OK to replace the factory/OEM speakers without replacing the amp? I simply want to take out the old speakers and replace them with new speakers.
I have upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH and used the PAC ROEM-NIS2 to connect to the vehicles audio harness. I also installed the Metra AXXESS ASWC steering wheel control adapter.
I would like to install the following:
Will these speakers be OK without replacing the the AMP? (I know these speakers are probably overkill
) I listen to my music mostly at low and mid sound levels. I do not care for load music or load thumping bass. I would rather not go through the hassle of having to replace the amp and having to rewire everything (if I can avoid the extra effort).
Will these fit? It would be nice to know the available speaker depth in the various locations BEFORE I purchase the speakers.
Any info would be appreciated, please.
Thank you,
Cameron

- rear deck a pair of Infinity Kappa 692.9i (top-mount depth: 3-5/16")

Have you tried the "outfit my car" option on Crutchfield? Might be worth trying. Saw your other post as well.
As far as keeping the OEM amp goes, I'd be worried your sound quality won't change if you keep it. After I replaced my HU I realized how much worse that amp makes things sound.

^ THIS.
The poor audio quality is almost entirely due to the bose amp. Replace it before speakers if you're looking for any sort of sound quality increase.
After that, replace the front components only, see if you prefer just front soundstage (I am) before putting any money into rear speakers. Get a small sub, and you're good to go.

If I replace my AMP first, I would like to keep all three sets of speakers, ie front door, rear seat side panel, and rear deck speakers. However, 6 channel amps in general are way out of my budget and price range. What are my options to replace the Bose amp and still retain all 6 speaker channels?
I believe all three sets of the OEM/factory speakers are 2 ohm impedance. If I am going to replace the amp first and keep the speakers (all three channels), I would plan on replacing the the 3 sets OEM/factory speakers with 3 sets of 2 ohm speakers also, eg the Infinity Kappa or JBL Performance line of speakers.
What are my options for replacing the amp and retaining all 6 channels for the speakers?
I would appreciate as much detailed info as anyone can provide, please -- I am pretty inexperienced about the technicalities behind the audio setup and don't know what to consider and/or lookout for.
Thanks, Cameron.

Just get a 4-channel and a 2-channel. Nearly all 2-channels bridge to a single for a single sub in the future, while nearly all 4-channels will bridge to a 2-channel if you decide on front soundstage or keep using all 4 for surround.
