Sub doesn't start up right away...

I just installed my jl 250/1 with my 12w3 to my stock bose HU. I didn't use an LOC because my amp can take the frequency from the speakers. I tapped into the wires for the rear armrest speakers before the bose amp. what I've noticed is that when I first turn on the radio it take about 10 seconds for the sub to kick in, or when i turn the volume down below 10 while just sitting in the car, the amp turns off. I placed my ground to one of the bolts between the bose amp bracket and the bare floor of the trunk. Help me out here.

Did you do the install? If you didn't I bet the installer didn't use a remote turn on wire. On those JL Audio amps they have signal sensing turn on. So when the amp senses a signal is turns on. So if you want to eliminate the lag then you may want to hook up a remote turn on wire. The reason they did this is so that people who hook up factory HUs to these amps don't have to look for a source for the remote turn on, makes the install easier.

I did do the install. I followed this diagram on jl's site that said if I hook up my amp to the rear speakers that they would essentially use the same turn on.

I have a JL250/1 as well.

Did you connect/tap into that remote signal of the amp turn on feature to a signal (right next to +12V & GND) ?
http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/pdfs/250_1.pdf

If you did, there's no need for the signal sense to be turned on because the amp doesn't need to detect a signal from the speaker inputs. It gets it directly from the remote start signal. Otherwise, you would need to turn on the "Signal Sensing".

Check that the remote wire is not loose (or tapped well), or whether you're getting power to turn the amp on itself...

I didn't use the remote wire at all. http://jlaudio.com/amps/pdfs/SYS_11.pdf
that says that the amp will get it signals from the rear speakers(where I hooked my amp up to)

With the remote wire, there's no delay because there's no need to sense any signal being inputted into the amp. One your power your HU, the amp is powered along with it.

Maybe give it a try? It's just one wire... and I'm sure you'll find it better once you run that wire.

btw, mine's wired via remote wire, and there's no lag or delay in amp turn-on.

Right, using the signal sensing turn on mode will cause a lag.
