Pioneer avic

Hi guys. I'm thinking of getting a DVD/navigation system for my car. I have been reading some review of both the pioneer avic x920bt and avic x930bt. Supposedly the x930bt is the newer one but why is it cheaper on some online shop? If any anyone out there have more knowledge of both systems please guide me in the right direction as to which one to get. Please help.

Any reason why you are choosing Pioneer? Have you looked at eclipse? I have had eclipse 726e on my car for about two years and have 0 complaints! I love everything about it.

This is what it looks like:

I have an older pioneer Z2 it is garbage, I wouldn't buy another Pioneer. If I would do it again I would get a Kenwood with the Garmin nav, just my preference I guess. I find the Pioneer just seems to have no redeeming qualities other than it looks cool.

Well, the X920BT has full voice control of navigation and iPod. the X930 does not - it was removed so that it wouldn't compete so directly with the Z130BT.

The navigation data on the Pioneer units is very mediocre - check the signature block, I own two of them. The actual nav software is just fine, but the points of interest are very hit-or-miss on accuracyand the roads aren't as up to date as other units.

I'd recommend a Pioneer non-nav current-gen unit (3400BH or 4400BH) and a standalone garmin to mount in the top of the cubby. It'll put your nav screen in a better location to reference while driving, and a garmin with free lifetime traffic and map updates can be had for under $150 if you shop around.

If you definitely want good navigation built into the headunit, go with a Kenwood (garmin nav data) or JVC (google maps nav data) instead.

I recently have had the AVIC-X930BT (this years model is the X940BT) and switched up to the Z140BH, both function almost identical except for not having to buy the HD radio tuner on Z140BH and the traffic updates as well. I would highly recommend either of these units, the GPS is a tad off but as it logs miles it calibrates itself (still a bit off). The Z140BH also has voice commands which I find a bit useless as you have to reach down to hit the button anyway, you may as well just hit the source button or whatever function you're after. Last but not least, the Z140BH has 3 X 4 Volt preouts as the X930 and X940BT only have 3 X 2 Volt if this matters at all to you.

You can map one of your steering wheel buttons to the voice command button. That's how my Z120BT is configured.
