Cruise Control w/aftermarket steering wheel???

I know with time and money, anything's possible, but I'm wondering has anyone added an aftermarket steering wheel and maintained cruise control somehow? From time to time, I take a looooong trip (maybe twice a year) and would really prefer cruise so I'm not doing that entire 10+hr drive without it. Any help would be much appreciated.

The steering wheel buttons just make connection with varying resistance on two different circuits, (3 buttons per circuit) one of the car's computers interprets the resistance along the circuits as the 6 different button presses and takes appropriate action. If you put together some switches with the appropriate resistance on them in the center console or wherever else is convenient, you could put the cruise control wherever you want.

So basically, just tapping the 3 (or just 2 if you don't need to mess with the reference ground) wires into a box with 6 specific resistors and 6 buttons will do the trick.

PERFECT!!!!! That's what I figured but I wanted to get some confirmation before I tear into something seemingly simple and it becomes a "thing". Thanks man.
