Hi, new G35 owner here, first post.
Anyhow, I plan to put Alpine SPX17 Pro speakers in the stock OEM locations.
My setup will be as follows -
2003 sedan = factory Bose
Pioneer DVD 4200 HU - already installed
Alpine PDX 5 amplifier
SPX 17 speakers
Subwoofer - havent decided yet
I've done a ton of searching and still havent found where the Bose tweeter line connects to the main front speaker line. Is it in the door itself or is it somewhere else. I haven''t taken the doors apart yet to check for myself
I plan to power the tweeters with one channel of the amp, and mids on the other channel. I would greatly prefer to not have run another speaker wire through the door if possible. .
The crossovers will under the rear deck.

What are you using crossovers for? That doesn't make sense with what you're describing (2x channels for left & right mids, 2x channels for left & right tweeters).
Either you're using the built-in crossover in the amp to split the signal, which doesn't require a second crossover, or you're sending the full signal all the way to the door, in which case, it makes sense to put the crossover in the door to avoid the pain of routing wire through the molex into the door.

I have to use the passive crossovers, the Pioneer HU isn't capable of running an active system unfortunately
The SPX crossovers allows the tweeters and mids to be powered separately using 2 amps. Or you can give each component its own channel using a 4 channel amp. I'm not doing rear speakers, so instead I'm putting the tweeters on the front channel, the mids on the rear channel.
I could also bridge the channels and send more power to the crossover and just use the main input. But, I'd rather have the ability to match speaker levels using the amp and the HU as opposed to relying on the crossover.
Regardless, its a moot point anyways, as I'll still have to run another speaker wire either way. I was hoping the tweeter wire extended past the door molex, but no such luck. The SPX crossovers are gigantic and I have no desire to try to shoehorn them into the door.

I wasn't familiar enough with the SPX-17's, and figured they had a 1-into-2 crossover.
I still think you'd be just fine using the built-in crossover in the amp set at whatever the settings for the SPX's crossover are, especially where you're planning to use the headunit and amp to match levels.
I'm curious as to whether the auto-eq setting on the 4200 would help balance your levels and timing, or if having "rears" in the front would completely throw it off.

I wish my amp could do that, but the crossovers only go up to 500hz and only do highpass . I have a nice set of Seas G18RNX-P mids from my last car that I would use instead of the Alpine mids if I could.
I too would like to know what exactly the Auto Eq can do. As far as I can tell all it does is adjust the 8 levels on the EQ and maybe some level matching. Pioneer's info on Auto EQ is at best vague
