quick question from subwoofer virgin

hey guys,
I was just offered a sub and amp from a buddy of mine. The sub is and alpine type r 10 inch sub and the amp label came off. Hes runnin it in his big diesel truck right now so i know it works well. I was just wondering two things. 1. The price is 150. good or bad price? and 2. i have the bose system so to install i would just unplug stock sub and amp and plug mine in? or not that simple? thanx ahead for any feedback!!

Good sub. Good price depending on what the amp is. However not a simple install you'll need a wiring kit for sure and I'm not sure if you can add an amp/sub to the stock Bose system I'm sure someone else will chime in though

Good price, assuming the box and amp are decent.

You'll have to run new power and ground wires for the amp, otherwise, you're pretty much just looking to follow this thread here:

I'm sure you could do it yourself for less than $100

What parts are you getting for the $450? a sub? box? amp? wiring?

Also, if you feel like coming south to Savannah, I'll do the labor for about $450 less than that shop.

LOC: ~$10. Single-amp wiring kit: $30. Generic box: $30-50.

I'd get it elsewhere, that place really seems like they're just charging whatever they think you'll pay.

If you can find a 4080/boxology box, expect to pay $300+ easily.

So i was a subwoofer virgin just like you, and it's tough! I was given a subwoofer for free so i wanted to use it! It took me a good 6 months to get everything together how i wanted it with a lot of help from forums. But what i would suggest is search craigslist for how someone who makes custom boxes. I got an awesome one for my coupe that fits perfectly with some extra room for only $150. Then i got the amp wire at a best buy that was closing for 75% off! I knew it would be a bad idea for me to do the install, so i went to a place, and it was only $150 for the labor which i thought was fair. If you try doing it yourself, i think you'll be wayy in over your head trying to run wiring across the whole car, figuring out where to put the amp and all that. But buy all the supplies online! Much cheaper!!!
