Re: G35 with TV/DVD/Tv tuner
NICE INSTALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I give u props for that. But i see that you kept the stock head unit components and was wondering if you still use the stock head unit or is the touch screen completely replacing it? And if you dont use the stock head unit did u just keep it there for a clean look? And if you do use it how would you switch to the dvd player from the stock unit, is there like an extra input on the head unit?

Re: G35 with TV/DVD/Tv tuner
If anyone wants to know...it was a pain in the *** to add the DVD and tuner to the car. My LCD is a Pioneer 7480 and my flip down is an ICON 7"LCD. I will put PS2 in the back and the controllers to come out of the back unit. It will be the ultimate. If anyone needs help, let me know. I have a lot of hook ups in the car business. I have been changing cars for quite some time. In fact, I might even change the dash!!!

Wow, I just got back from my first service and I asked the tech how much it would cost to add the infiniti NAV aftermarket into the car and they quoted around 10 GRAND. Thats ridiculous, given what you managed to add into your car for 4 grand.
Well anyway just thought people interested in this thread might be interested to know that....

What kind of NAV were they going to give you for 10G? Your not navigating a Space Shuttle through Galaxies, your navigating a G35 ...... And it only cost 2G if you got it from day 1..... they are out of their minds...

Yep, they are. I wasn't getting any special NAV over the one anyone could buy originally, they just said it would be prohibitivly expensive, like 10 g, to add after the fact because of all the wiring changes...
oh well i would have liked it and they could have made a couple more grand off me... i didnt think it'd be that big a deal but I guess there's more to it then I thought... Really, they probably just dont want to do it.... and they knew I'd laugh at that rate....

10 grand does not sound realistic to me, you would be better off selling your car and getting a new '03 or '03.5 with Nav and make out better than the 10 grand you were quoted. I hate it when tech's treat people like that!!!!

Re: G35 with TV/DVD/Tv tuner
haha, yeah your right, i never thought of that... but I wouldnt do it anyway. I dont want it that bad, that id take a couple grand hit on owning a car for 4 months... I thought itd be a nice toy, nothing that I want to get rid of my car over. If I was gonna pick a car based on a NAV system I would have gotten the tls anyway, cause the acura NAV is nicer interface IMHO.
Anyway, I regret not getting it orginially but hey, saved me 2 grand and by the time i get a new car (5 years or so) theyll probably be standard.....
Like I said, they probably just didnt want to do it, cause there is no way its that expensive of a mod, and if the wiring were THAT different itd probably be too much of a pain for their assembly line to deal with...
Cheers,

Re: G35 with TV/DVD/Tv tuner
I saw your install and really like it, I was wonderin if the cubby cover fits over the entire unit and if not, could it be modified to fit around the sides and in the front?
