Stock NAV?

Hey everyone, I have been looking into getting an 05 G. I went to the dealer a few days ago, did the test drive LOVED it. However I wanted to see how the DVD NAV looked. However the sales man was unable to locate the DVD-ROM. My question is, if you have the DVD in and just turn the DVD NAV on (not entering a destination). Does it display a map of where you are driving? Or is this only when you enter a destination? This is the only option I am unsure if I really want or not. Thanks in advance.

It shows the map and where you are and direction and everything else whether you have a destination in or not. It's great, get it.

The manual for the stock NAV is also available for free from http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/ it has screen shots that should give you a good idea how it works.
