6.5 Component speaker input

I am looking for some recommendations on 6.5 component speakers for my G coupe. I recently installed a complete stereo and am not completely happy with my mids and highs.

I installed IMAGE DYNAMICS CTX65CS components and I am feeding them about 100w RMS each side. The highs seem a little screechy and the mids just aren't as full as I was hoping (I have a sub so not worried about bass).

Here are some options I am looking at:

Amazon.com: CL-61A.2-25 PRO - CDT Audio Classic 2-Ohm 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers: Car Electronics Amazon.com: CL-61A.2-25 PRO - CDT Audio Classic 2-Ohm 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers: Car Electronics
- These are on sale at amazon for 170$, 2 ohm so I could feed them close to 200w each.

CXS62 V.2 IMAGE DYNAMICS 6.5" 2-OHM COMPONENT SPEAKERS

RE AUDIO XXX6.5C 6.5" CAR STEREO SPEAKER SYSTEM COMPONENT SET 2 OHM SPEAKERS

I am looking at 2 ohm speakers just for the added power I can feed them. Any recommendations from the audio gurus for a great set of components around 200-250$ that would be a welcome upgrade over my Image Dynamics entry level component set? Thanks!

Search the audio section or the market place for some speakers. I have seen new sets that were not installed for sale. If you cross your fingers, The Wrathernaut or Eggyhustles will chime in.

Hmmm, funny, I have been here twice as long as you...and I thought this was the AUDIO section, hence the "Audio, Video, and Electronics" Title. If there is another section I am overlooking, let me know. Thanks for the advice, I will keep my eye on the marketplace, but was really hoping for some recommendations from some members.

people are so quick to yell "search" on this form. it shouldn't be the pre-programmed response and it happens way too often here on this forum. anyways, I am no audio guru but I'm putting together a system for DIY install so I've done lots of research. from what I've read, the image dynamics components that you have installed are top 3 or 4 "bang for your buck" components out there right now. I too had this set on the top of my list but decided to hold off for a price drop or something. all the while, I continued to do my homework. I am now leaning heavily towards this component system. JBL ms62 c. Diymobileaudio.com has a 20 page thread on these bad boys. after reading it you would quickly convince yourself that you must have them now. i pulled the trigger 3 days ago and theyre on their way. so back to your dilemma, the thing that is very often recommended is sealing your doors. in effect creating an enclosure for your mid woofer. did you do this? and secondly, are you sending them enough power? thats the extent of my knowledge as it pertains to your issue. it sucks to spend hard earned money and not be happy with your purchase. i wish you luck my friend.

Thanks for the reply...I will check out those JBLs. I did put sound deadening on about half of each door, but not the whole door. I am giving them each 100w RMS which is what they are rated for, so they should be getting what they need. They may just need longer to break in as well. Let me know how you like the JBLs once once get them installed!

The ID CTX65-CS are pretty good speakers, I'd blame it on tuning over those speakers.

I've got a PPI 600.2 powering them (190w RMS x2).

no problem man. in your price range there is a nice variety of comps to choose from. 1 question for you: are u running the active or passive? i plan to go passive and trust that jbl has done everything they could to optimize their speakers through crossovers. i believe these jbls are 80 rms. ill be sending them 75+ from a jl 300/4. if i feel like i need more out of them then i will bridge the amp and dump 150 on them. i will post my setup when im finished for sure.

eggy, im starting to think i may not have enough power to run a sub in small sealed box with my jl 300/4. would you recommend for me to sell my used amp and get a new ppi 900.4 (or any other amp in this price range) or keep the jl and run a small mono for a 10 sub. i need to decide on this before i run my power wires so i can put in a dist. block. thanks for your time.

Recommend deadening the full doors... partial coverage defeats the purpose.

What's the sub? You don't buy an amp before you buy a sub... you buy a sub that suits your needs as far as enclosure type/physical space, listening tastes and budget go.

I'll assume your 10" sub is 4 ohm DVC and rated at 500w rms, not going into enclosure specs since it doesn't matter to the amp; you'd need ballpark $200-300 + installation hardware is my guess.

Just thought I'd mention for the thread deadening does not just mean vibration dampener like *ugh* dynamat. Partial coverage of a panel (about 25%) with vibration damper is correct. Dampening with a closed-cell foam or vinyl barrier should be full, not partial.
