2003 G35 Sedan Bose Head Unit
Hello all, I have just replaced the Bose head unit with an aftermarket Kenwood head unit. For some reason it seems as if the Kenwood is not powering the rear Bose speaker in the back. All 4 door speakers are working and verified the connections.
Does the original Bose head unit have the amplifier integrated into it? I am assuming my Kenwood head unit cannot power that Bose speaker in the back. Below are the items I purchased from crutchfield.

Going by the manual for the 2003 sedan, it shows a separate amp for the woofer (which is different from all the other years, which used a single amp with 4 audio channels going into it, rather than the 2003's 5 channel, two-amp setup).
Since you only used a harness with four outputs on it, you're only going to have a signal sent to the four speakers.
To get a signal to the subwoofer, you need to send a signal on the fifth channel, which has no connection with the harness you have. The woofer signal is sent via the black and white wires just off of center in the gray harness that used to plug into the factory stereo, which is now plugged into the harness you received from crutchfield. Cut those wires, and splice them to an RCA connector (cutting an RCA wire in half is the easiest way) and plug that RCA connector to the subwoofer output on your new headunit.
You may need to set up the radio to run the woofer in single-channel/mono instead of stereo, since you only have one woofer, to get it sounding right.
