NAV software for a PDA
I tried this on a different thread and got zero hits. C'mon guys, I thought y'all were the techno studs.
So, since all the geeks got new PDA's for Christmas, I was able to pick up a used Ipaq(5555) on E-bay fairly cheap.
I would like to get a bluetooth GPS receiver and NAV software. The Dell, HP, and I think a NAVMN kits come with their own software bundles, but they are $200.
Obviously, the cheap GPS recievers don't come with any NAV software.
So, if I got a bluetooth GPS receiver for around $75, what would be a good NAV product to get? Does MS Streets have 3D view? What about Pharos? PocketMap? MapSonic?
Are there any freeware NAV products? I would really like a 3D or "birdseye" view, and voice commands, but I could sacrifice those for FREE.
Probably needs to be legal, so I can get updates. They are building new roads by the day in my town.
But cheap is always a good thing.

Hey what's up,
Yeah I did research back a few months ago about this option... but I finally bit the bullet and did the double-din and added navigation... but here is a website that might help.

I would go with a bluetooth GPS if possible. its so much more convenient because you can place it on the dash for best reception, and not have to worry about any cables. I use a rayming tn-206 with ipaq 4155. As far as software goes I think the best ones are:
ALK Copilot
Intellinav/Iguidance/Routis (all the same thing)
TomTom

Thanks for the tips. I am definately going with a Bluetooth reciever. Just looking for the software to go with it.
I might go the double din route for in car, but I want the GPS for other stuff too. Golf courses, SCUBA and camping sites, stuff like that.
Besides, I'm supposed to be a techie and didn't have a PDA!
