Picking a sub... SQ>SPL, Sundown or IDQ

Hello,

I've been peicing together a sound system for my '05 G-sedan. I've picked a new headunit (AVH-x4500), components (ID 6.5's and tweeters), and an amp (1800w Power Acoustics amp). I've been researching subs for the last 2-3 weeks and would am seeking some advice from my fellow G owners as far as experiences.

I'd like to keep the sub+box under $250. I'm leaning more towards more SQ than SPL, but need a power hungry sub to handle my 1800w amp @ 2ohms ( or would I be better off running it at 4?). My ideas were

1 - IDQ 12 sealed
1 - SA-12 sealed

From what I've read the SA-12 can handle extra power without a hitch. But on the other hand, the IDQ 12" is better suited for a sealed enclosure which would be more of what I'm looking for (SQ>SPL but still brings the noise, wont use up all my trunk space). Anybody running an SA-12 in a sealed box? Hits pretty clean? Or would a ported SA-10 be better suited for my needs?

I've looked up tons of threads, but I'm still a noob with only forum thread knowlegde, little real world experience with this stuff. I can use all the help I can get!

If you really are after SQ, get a JL 8w3v3 in a ported box built to spec, rather than either of those two in a sealed box.

i would suggest a IDMAX as well (if you can find one cheap enough). awesome quality and can handle some power. the SA12 is a great sub, but if you like trunk space, 2 SA8's in a box built to spec and you'd be happy as well...

With the size of those woofers and considering our trunk is fairly well sealed, I'm not sure I'd consider that infinite baffle right there.

Unless you only use it with the trunk open, that is.

Couldn't find an IDMAX with in price range, so settle on an IDQ 12'. While the system I've put in so far is far from perfect (need to get some power to my ID front components, and prolly a different amp with cleaner power for the IDQ), I am more than impressed with the sound quality achieved. Tight bass, clear mids/highs, nice BOOM playing Forgot about Dre. I'm much more into the electro/dancehall these days (big diplo fan), reason why I was wanted a solid SQ performer for a sub. But the IDQ still brings enough thump to make me want to dig up my old gangsta rap mixes. It's nothin but a G thang

The trunks aren't 100% sealed

You can also vent to atmosphere

In that setup, they were ruler flat from 100 hz down to subsonic frequencies.

Was also able to produce 146db of clean output on music.

Impressive considering they kept 50% of their trunk space and used 600 watts.
