So after 8 years my Bose in dash 6 disc changer finally went out. I'm a little tight on funds at the moment so I bought a used 2006 unit from CL. My question is, will this be a direct plug and play for my 2005's defective unit?
2 things I noticed on the used unit I bought. It says Clarion on it, and 2nd, on the Radio face plate, it says "SSV" instead of "PYT" like mine. It was also missing the "Dual" button whereas mine has it.
Please help! Thanks

There are a few things that could have caused this issue in the first place.
1. Your ribbon connector at the bottom of the stereo popped out TF ceasing to function.
2. The CD changer is the issue. JUST THIS can be replaced to try to remedy your issue!
Check Wrathernaut's double din install guide to figure out how to take apart the dash.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. The 6 disc changer won't eject/respond anymore. All my cds are basically stuck in there and won't play or eject anymore. I can only listen to the radio.Originally Posted by Urbanengineer

Try to fix the ribbon cable situation first, start up the radio and test... and if no fix go ahead and remove the CD changer. you can also recover old CDs. Unplug your battery when removing the old radio Originally Posted by G'duprideR6

. Only plug it back in to test.So I just figured out that I bought a 2006 NON-Bose head unit to replace my 2005 Bose unit. Will this even work? Thanks

Depending on how much you listen to music, you are much better off getting an aftermarket head unit. Just swapping that out will sound SO MUCH better. Plus, you could listen to music using a USB, Iphone/Ipod, bluetooth or cd/dvd.. I was really happy I swapped mine out.

I hear you man. I'm at the point of just going that route event though I didnt want to drop the money. I gotta figure out how to sell this thing now. Probably just going to go the Double Din Route.Originally Posted by dukehotty

I was hesitant at first but it sounds so much better and has so many other options I would never go back. I bought my Kenwood DDX419 for $300 but my JDM DD plate was $270! You can go with a Metra DD plate for about $100 now a days. Doesn't look as good but still works. The sound is one of the best things about driving my car now.Originally Posted by G'duprideR6

It'll "work" but any audio from it will be totally messed up since the signal it makes isn't compatible with the bose amplifier.Originally Posted by G'duprideR6

Thanks for the reply! I think I had the bose amp removed since I had 2 subs installed. I could be wrong though, I'm very electronic inclined. Any idea if it should work okay then? ThanksOriginally Posted by Wrathernaut

The bose amp would still be running the rest of the speakers, most likely. It's unlikely it's going to work.
