'05 coupe: Bose radio with Nav.....any good?

I used to be in hi-end home audio, and spent lots of $$ in my youth..

So now im in my 50's, and just picked up a pristine '05 coupe with 50k miles..

Is this audio system very good regarding quality etc?
I was never a huge Bose fan, but was ok with some of their products...

Disappointed there is no AUX input..

I really want to keep as much stock look as possible so perhaps a small sub might be good eh? Is only placement in trunk area ?

thanks

The sub-forum Audio, Visual, Electronics, ETC. has all these answers. Definitely worth a sub in the trunk, look into the 4080 box. Also, it would be best if you installed Dynamat. I have noticed a lot of rattle and I don't push it that hard.

As for a new HU, you have to buy a 200-300$ conversion kit, a new HU (200-600$), steering wheel controls, converters for the 2 ohm speakers, etc.

If you just want ipod capabilities, then search for the satellite plugin for iphones upgrade...

Hope this helps, please start searching

(had to fix the dynamat reference )

The bose on these cars is terrible. Far inferior to the base model speakers manufactured by Pioneer.
Pioneer:

Bose:

As for keeping the stock look, there is plenty of room in the factory locations for upgrades. There's zero visual evidence of an upgraded sound system in my car unless the trunk is open. Just putting some good 6.5" components in the front with proper power will give you a substantial increase in sound quality. If you're trying to maintain trunk space, a 8" sub in a ported box will go a long way for bass. You could mount it on the rear deck if you strengthened the rear deck.
