Hmmmm got everything hooked up and it sounds fantastic (many thanks to Wrathernaut!!) but the faceplate won't open. It looks like there is 1mm of clearance at the top between the 95-7605A and the head unit and maybe 3mm at the bottom but when I press the eject button it just makes noises and gives up. I'm going to call crutchfield support tomorrow but has anyone else had this problem?

 

I also have this problem, my unit hits the trim whenever I try ejecting or tilting the screen. I tried fixing it but eventually gave up. I don't really use CDs or need to move the screen so I learned to live with it.

 

How much was your installation

 

Were you ever able to solve this issue? I just got an AVH-4100 NEX and I'm about to install and would like to retain the tilt and eject function if possible.

 

You just have to sure the trim you use to fill the gap isn't in the way by setting it further back, away from the moving parts.. I've done a couple with motorized faces and haven't had an issue with tilt/eject.

 

Thanks. Did you use the trim ring for those installs, and did you then have the unit sticking out a bit more from the dash?

I've been test-fitting with the JDM kit and it looks like the trim will need to be set pretty far back underneath the HU. I may just go with some poly foam black tape built up underneath the unit instead of trying to get the Scosche trim ring to fit. I also want the face to be relatively flush with the dash kit, so it's tricky. And I won't know how well the eject function works until I can power the unit. I guess I need to bench power the unit and see how it will fit before tackling the install.

 

Mine isn't far back at all, I just ran a single strip of trim on the bottom side - the strip of black trim is the portion that has "2707" on it - and it's being held upside-down in these photos:

Perfect, thanks! I cut a strip off of the trim ring and glued it to the bottom of the JDM kit per your picture and bench tested the HU eject feature and it works perfectly. I used black foam around the top and sides of the HU and those seem to look good too. Next step is the install. Hoping to get to that this weekend.
