Why kindle fire? Why not Android device?

The kindle fire is an android device, just heavily skinned. It'll still run all the apps. The big reason is it's the perfect size to go in the factory navscreen housing without any visible alterations to the exterior of the housing, so I could still put the factory navigation unit back in when I ever decide to sell the car. It's a better price than any tablet with an equivalent processor and screen quality too, so with the exception of built-in GPS, it's got everything I want.
