AVH-4000NEX install and a couple questions

Hey everyone, just a couple questions. First, could anyone that has installed the AVH-4000NEX in a 03 sedan tell me if the install was flush using the standard holes on the bracket or if you had to drill new ones? Second, when installing the ASWC-1 for the steering wheel controls, do you just use quick splice connectors to tap the M39 harness?

Appreciate the help, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I have an 06 Coupe and had to drill holes to make the AVH-4000NEX fit flush, I think it should be the same for your 03 Sedan. I quick spliced the steering wheel harness wires but most would recommend soldering if your handy with a soldering iron.

Thanks for the input. I don't own and have never used a soldering iron, so I think I'll try the quick splicers. Also, on the first couple pages of the shopping list thread there is mention to needing to solder in resistors, but I don't see mention of it in the first post. Was this just the way it used to be done?

Thanks!

The PAC SWI-PS used to be the go-to steering wheel adapter and needed resistors soldered in, but since the Axxess ASWC-1 came out, it's the better option.

Soldering irons are pretty cheap and you can practice on scraps of wire to get the method down.

Got everything installed today, all thanks to your awesome write-up! Couple suggestions: maybe put in that for the Axxess adapter you might need to plug the 3.5mm connector into the HU, also you may want to include the picture of the non-nav/satellite M39 harness.

Thanks!
